Speaker’s brief Bio:

Dr. Houze Xu, academicianofChinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Geodesist and Geophysicist. Hismain research fields are geodesy, earth gravity and earthtides.He lead the projects including the design and computation ofastro-gravimetric leveling in China, the building of national gravity network, observation and researches of earth solid tide, modern crustal movement and geodynamic research etc.He was devoted to the research concerning the approximation theory of earth gravity field, developed the unified approximation of height anomaly and vertical deflection with constrain condition and the estimation of truncationerror,investigated the representation method of gravity field on and outside of the earth by fictitious single-layer densities，and the simulation of geoid. He has won the second prize in Science and Technology Progress Award, the third prize in china's state natural science award, the third prize in Natural Science Award from CAS, as well as the first prize in the Science and Technology Progress Award from the CAS for twice. He was Distinguished Chinese Visiting Scholars in 2009. and received Paul Melchior award from the International Solid Earth Tide Commission in 2013.
